Voice Lessons
Ruth is passionate about sharing her love of singing with students, as well as a breadth of knowledge about classical music, opera, art song, musical theater, and a variety of other musical genres and styles.  Voice lessons give the student confidence with their own unique voice, as well as knowledge of sight reading, vocal technique, music theory, and other basic musicianship skills.

She has experience teaching children ages 6 and up, as well as adults, and has studied vocal pedagogy extensively. She grew up singing in Denver, as a member of the Colorado Children’s Chorale and in church choirs, and is familiar with the many singing opportunities available for both avocational and pre-professional students. She uses positive reinforcement and language, and aims to increase self-confidence through thoughtful encouragement. Most importantly, she seeks to spread a love of music through the joy of singing.

Contact Ruth for more information about scheduling.  Lessons are 30 minutes, 45 minutes, or 60 minutes long.

Lessons are designed to fit each student’s needs and goals.  Basic vocal technique is taught in every lesson through a variety of warm ups and exercises and then applied to songs or pieces.  For beginners, Ruth also teaches basic sight reading, reading notation, and help with analysis of lyrics.  For more advanced students, singing in foreign languages, complex rhythms, harmonies, and other musicianship skills are covered.  Healthy, simple vocal technique is emphasized to empower students to focus on the fun of singing. Students may work on a variety of styles, including classical, opera, musical theater, folk, jazz, country, popular song, or sacred music. Voice lessons can help with audition preparation, confidence using the voice, general music appreciation, and developing the voice for choral singing.  For more ideas about how voice lessons can help you, Email Ruth!
